The Sacraments – Channels of God’s Grace

The sacraments are sacred encounters with God, through which He pours out His grace and strengthens our faith. Instituted by Christ, they are visible signs of His love and presence in our lives. Through Baptism, the Eucharist, Reconciliation, and the other sacraments, God invites us to grow closer to Him and live more fully as members of His Church. We warmly welcome you to celebrate these beautiful moments with us at Our Lady of the Angels, Mercia, and deepen your journey of faith.

BAPTISM – Begin your journey of faith!

If you or your child have not yet been baptized, we invite you to take this beautiful step of faith. Baptism is the gateway to the Christian life, welcoming you into God’s family. Contact us to learn more about preparing for this sacrament.

Baptism of Adults (please go to R.C.I.A. the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults)

If you are over 18 yrs old and interested in becoming a Catholic or would like to find out more about the Catholic faith or even been baptised but perhaps never got round to receiving the Sacrament of the Eucharist (First Communion) or the Sacrament of Confirmation, then please speak to Fr Prince personally or enquire in the parish office for an informal chat to decide which is the best option for you. Our R.C.I.A. Co-ordinator is Jane Foskett.

Our Parish R.C.I.A. course runs each year from mid-September until the end of April. We prepare Adults to receive the sacraments of initiation- Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist - at Easter.

EUCHARIST – Be nourished by Christ!

The Eucharist is at the heart of our Catholic faith, where we receive Jesus Himself. Join us at Mass and experience the grace, love, and unity that flow from this sacred celebration. If you are preparing to receive the Eucharist for the first time, please contact us to begin the arrangements.

RECONCILIATION (Confession) – Experience God’s Mercy!

No matter where you are in life, God’s love is always waiting for you. Through Confession, we receive forgiveness and a fresh start. CONFIRMATION – Strengthen your faith!

Are you ready to deepen your relationship with God? Confirmation is a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit, equipping you to live as a strong and faithful disciple. If you or a loved one would like to be confirmed, we welcome you to begin the journey. In our diocese, confirmation for under 18’s takes place in every 2nd year.
